Marleaux Votan Deluxe 5
Marleaux is a bass company located in Germany and founded by Gerald Marleaux.
Marleaux has been building basses since 1990, and his unparalleled passion for quality and attention to detail has led to him being acknowledged as one of the greatest builders currently around.
Gerald hand-picks the wood in the local area around his workshop and treats the woods like a true artisan. Time and attention is put into proper storage, treatment and drying of the woods so their inherent sonic characteristics and qualities shine through uncompromised.
Sound-wise, the Votan Deluxe 5 is a bit different from the other Marleaux basses we have.
With the Dibetou body, Flamed Maple top and the Santos Rosewood fingerboard you get a very warm, round and deep sound that is supremely soothing for the low-end bass soul.
Even though there’s still enough sparkle and presence to cut through, it is obvious that Gerald Marleaux wanted to create an instrument that occupies a different sound spectrum than his typical bass guitars do.
With the Dibetou body, Flamed Maple top and the Santos Rosewood fingerboard you get a very warm, round and deep sound that is supremely soothing for the low-end bass soul.
The Votan Deluxe comes with 2 Delano humbucker pickups and two pickup-switches where you can select Humbucker Parallel, Single coil and Humbucker serial on each pickup, which gives you a ton of tone-tweaking possibilities even before you begin dialing in the preamp.
The Preamp is the Votan V2 preamp with Master, Balance, Passive Tone, Bass and Treble, and it has been specifically made to compliment the natural rich tone of this bass.
The Votan Deluxe 5 is in essence a true bass wonder that should make any low-end lover out there fall deeply in love with it.
