Microtubes X 900

Darkglass Suite

Using the desktop version of the Darkglass Suite allows you to select and use any of our available impulse responses from our provided library in addition to loading your own custom impulse responses. In addition, you can control the amplifier channel settings for the Super Intelligent Footswitch.

The Intelligent Footswitch is an intuitive yet versatile accessory for your Microtubes X 900. One tap will engage and disengage the Distortion, while holding for 3 seconds will Mute the amplifier. It is connected to the head via a standard 1/4″ cable and it’s powered by a microcontroller that sends commands to the head using a proprietary communication protocol.

Specs

Power and Ohm

Maximum Power Output
900 Watts RMS @ 4Ω (1Khz full blast 2 min max) 20%THD (450 Watts RMS @ 8Ω)
Minimum Load Impedance
4Ω (2Ω in 2Ω mode)

Controls

HPF (High Pass Filter)
Controls the cutoff frequency of the high pass filter which is applied before the clean signal is fed to the distortion circuit. Ranging from 100 Hz (for thicker, fuzzier saturation) to 1 kHz (for ultra-sharp definition).
Drive
This knob controls the amount of distortion that the Alpha·Omega Engine will deliver. It will change from a soft, warm overdrive to a massive and modern distortion sound.
Mix
Controls the blend between the compressed lows and the distorted highs.
LPF (Low Pass Filter)
Controls the cut-off frequency of the low pass filter which is applied before the clean signal is fed to the compression circuit. Ranging from 50 Hz (for only sub-bass) to 500 Hz (to preserve some clean mids)
Comp
Controls the amount of compression for the low band when X is activated. Both threshold and makeup gain are controlled to maintain a constant level. This control is also used to control the amount of compression when the compressor is enabled for the clean signal. The clean comp is full-range
Level
Sets the output volume of the X channel.
Master
Controls the overall volume of the amplifier.
Headphone Volume
Controls the volume of the headphone output.

Eq

Bass
+-12dB at 80Hz. Changes the low content of the signal.
Mids
+-12dB at 250, 500, 1.5K and 3Khz. This graphic EQ control the mid content of the signal.
Treble
+-12dB at 5kHz. Use this knob to change the high content of the signal

Toggle switches

Passive/Active
Use this push-button switch to change from passive to active mode. If your bass is active it can have a hotter signal, making the amp distort earlier (feel free to use if such additional distortion is desired).
X
Use this push-button to turn on or off the Microtubes X Engine which allows you to compress and distort your bass signal in two separate bands, solidifying the clean low end and distorting the highs to taste from articulate to aggressive. The Microtubes X Engine operates before the EQ section
Clean Comp
Use this push-button switch to activate the compressor circuit for the clean channel.
Volume Clean Comp
Sets the level of the clean channel when the compressor is engaged.
Mute
Mutes the amplifier.
Cabinet select
Switches between 3 different cabinet impulses and bypass this section for a rawer sound.
Min-Load
Press when using a 2Ω load. You can use this control to lower the output if your 4Ω cabinet is not able to handle more than 500W (you can also get 350W with an 8Ω cabinet in this configuration).
Post-Pre
Selects what signal will be delivered by the DI output. Selecting PRE, sends a clean copy of your input bass signal. Selecting POST delivers a signal processed by the preamp of the amp (gain, distortion, eq, master, etc.)
Ground Lift
Lifts the ground of the DI XLR output. If a ground noise in you DI signal is experienced, try changing the setting of this control.

Outputs

Speaker out
Connects the amplifier to your cabinet. This Speakon combo jack allows for either Speakon or ¼” speaker cable operation. *WARNING: Do not use an instrument cable with this jack. Using an instrument cable can damage your amplifier.
Pre Amp Out
This output connects the preamp to a different power amp.
Pre DI Output
Use this connector to send a balanced copy of your clean signal to the console, mic preamp, interface, etc.
MIDI
The midi input allows you to control the channels of the amp via a midi standard controller.
Footswitch
The Intelligent Footswitch is a proprietary digitally controlled device that allows you to remotely engage and disengage the Alpha·Omega Engine. You can also hold the footswitch to Mute the amplifier. The distortion push button will remain operational with the Intelligent Footswitch plugged in. · You can use a regular mono instrument cable to connect the amplifier to the footswitch. You must remove the cable from the footswitch jack in the rear panel if you want to control the amp from the front panel.
Headphones
Connect your Headphones and enjoy the impulse response cabinet emulation.
USB
The USB connector allows you to use the Darkglass Suite to load different cabinet impulses or change different parameters on your amp (midi, compressor, etc.).
Aux In
Use this connector to provide to the Headphone output music from your laptop, cellphone, mp3 player, etc.
POST DI
Use this connector to connect the Microtubes X 900 preamplifier to balanced equipment (mic preamp, recorder, compressor, audio interface, etc.) via a standard XLR connector. Using this connection you have a signal processed by the preamp section of the amp (gain, distortion, compressor, EQ, cab sim, etc.).
