Area J
Been chasing that vintage J Bass® vibe without the hum? The wait is over. The Area J™ pickup nails the warm, clean, and singing tone that classic J Bass® pickups are known for. Forget the heavy-handed “amazing punch” and “thundering lows” marketing lingo—this is all about nuance. Warmth, sustain, and clarity take center stage here.
While it’s not built to be the loudest, the Area J™ delivers power where it counts, with a focused attack that cuts through the mix without overpowering it. Expect clear, articulate lows and smooth, open highs, perfect for players who crave that vintage sound but demand modern performance.
With reduced magnet pull for better sustain and 4-conductor wiring for series and parallel humbucking modes, the Area J™ offers the flexibility to shape your tone without sacrificing its timeless character. Plug it in, and hear the difference
The Area J™ is not loud, but it has a very focused attack, so it has power where it counts – at the center of the tone. The lows are very clear and clean, and the highs are both smooth and open-sounding. We’ve reduced the magnet-pull, and included 4-conductor wiring to allow both series and parallel humbucking modes.
Neck and bridge positions. The Area J™ Pair was designed to fit the neck and bridge position of the original Fender Jazz Bass, which has neck and bridge pickup cavities of two different sizes. Some current basses use the same length pickup in both positions.
