The VM5 is in some ways a very classic instrument where the focus is on a beautiful round and warm sound with a lot of body to it. The body construction is made of ash and the fingerboard is Pau ferro, which is something most bass players recognize and will immediately feel at home with.

The pickups are 1 split coil and a humbucker from Sandberg that form a very organic relationship with the bass for a natural and beefy tone.

In other words you can go from the more classic sound of the single coil to the more powerful and punchy sound on the bridge pickup. The preamp is Sandberg’s own 2-band EQ Active/Passive, which plays a pivotal part in that classic Sandberg sound.

All in all a really great bass that will make most bass players feel at home after playing their first note on it.
